# Quickstart

> Your first call to the Codex API.

You need two things: the base URL and your API key. Your key starts with `codex_` and came from Nomos.

| Auth | `Authorization: Bearer codex_…` |
| Format | JSON, UTF-8. Some routes gzip when you send `Accept-Encoding: gzip`. |
| Methods | `GET` only. Anything else answers 405. |

    Put it in an environment variable, never in code you share.
